Badges & Program Advancement

Boys in Cub Scouting have the opportunity to earn several different awards & badges during their time in Cub Scouts.  Boys are separated into Dens by age and grade level--Tigers (First Grade), Wolves (second Grade), Bears (Third Grade), Webelos I (Fourth Grade), Webelos II (Fifth Grade).  Each level works during the year to earn the badge of their namesake, with the exception of Webelos II, which works towards their Arrow of Light.  Boys are welcome to joing Cub Scouts at anytime, but only continue forward with the program and do not go back and earn the Badge from younger grades.

The first Badge a boy earns at any Rank level is the Bobcat.  To earn the Bobcat, a cub scout must

  1. Learn and say the Scout Oath, with help if needed.

  2. Learn and say the Scout Law, with help if needed.

  3. Show the Cub Scout sign. Tell what it means.

  4. Show the Cub Scout handshake. Tell what it means.

  5. Say the Cub Scout Motto. Tell what it means.

  6. Show the Cub Scout Salute. Tell what it means.

  7. With your parent or guardian, complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide—Bobcat Requirements.
