Pack 321 Pinewood Derby Rules
| 1. | All cars will be weighed, inspected, assigned a number and impounded prior to the start of racing. After being impounded cars will remain in the pit area except when racing. A car leaving the track during the race will have 5 minutes for repairs and is subject to inspection prior to further race participation. Please provide a nick name for car. |
| 2. | Winners will be determined by a double elimination system. Cars will run two at a time. May run 3 at a time this year | |
| 3. | When down to last 4 cars, a new double-elimination heat will be conducted to determine 1st through 4th place finishers. | |
| 4. | All cars must meet the following specifications: | |
| Width | Not to exceed 2-3/4 inches |
| Length | Not to exceed 7 inches |
| Height | Not to exceed 3-1/2 inches - including wheels |
| Bottom clearance | Must be at least 5/16 inch under carriage. Weights should be inset into wood and flush with bottom. Weights hanging below car WILL drag. |
| Nose Front | May not be recessed at the centerline. The farthest point forward must be on the centerline of the body |
| Weight | Not to exceed 5 oz. The race scale is the official scale |
| Wheel Base | Not to be altered from the precut axle grooves |
| Wheels* | No substitute for the wheels and nails included in official kit No changes to the wheels as provided - No bearings, collets, etc. are permitted – NO SOLID AXELS. |
| Suspension | No springs or other form of suspension |
| Loose Parts | No loose materials of any kind permitted. The care may be hollowed out so that weight may be added but the weight may not move. |
| Detailing | Details such as steering wheels, decals, etc. may be added |
| Lubrication | All lubrication must be applied before the car is registered. Dry graphite powder only |
*Please note that each year cars are entered that are range from those the Scoutobviously did themselves to those on which the parent obviously did themajority of the work. Therefore, as ameans of bringing some degree of parity, it has been Pack 321’s policy that nomodifications of the wheels, other than a slight sanding of the surface whichcomes into contact with the track, will be allowed. We appreciate your cooperation in thematter. Also note weights add to bottomof Cars may not have sufficient clearance.
