Fire & Emergency Service Exploring is open to young men and women ages 13 through 18 years old. Fire & Emergency Services Exploring is a hands-on program that allows participants to experience leadership opportunities and participate in community service activities.
Our explorer program meets every 1st and 3rd Friday from 1700-2000hrs at Station 81 in Yellow Springs, Ohio. Our members come from the Yellow Springs and surrounding school districts. In order to participate in our program, members are required to maintain a high academic standard at their school and conduct themselves at all times as representatives of our Fire Department whether at the fire house or in their private lives.
Members of our explorer program develop leadership skills and new personal skills. Members are trained to the current Firefighting polices and procedures along with Emergency Medical protocols. As an active member, explorers will learn how to use equipment, participate in Fire Fighting/EMS training scenarios, and experience our "Ride-Along" program which allows members to ride with MTFR units on real emergencies (*must be at least 14 yo to participate in the ride-along program).
If you are interested in joining our program, attached at the bottom is our application. Please download and complete the application. You may mail the application, e-mail, or drop it off in person.
